My study/research experience at Taiwan ------- Carlo Sandoval
I came to Taiwan on August 26 of 2007, so I have now 3 months in here now, I can definitely say that coming here was the best decision for me. I am taking an IMBA Master in Business Administration (Technology Management) program, my background is computer sciences engineering, I am taking my course in Tsing Hua National University, here they have told me that it is second best university of Taiwan in Technology research, and that the Taiwanese students feel very proud of studying here, and have very good opportunities of finding a job when graduated.
So far my opinion of the program course that a I am taking is the highest, the classes are good, with high level of education, all of them in English, which makes things more easy, we have a wide selection of courses to take from, besides I have the opportunity to take courses from another universities, even in another cities, so you can customize your program study according to your best interests. As the class are high level, you can expect to find really tough ones, but even so, they all includes practical issues analysis and cases studies, that focus your attention on the main points, using real life examples and keeping your attention, forcing you to apply the learned knowledge and common sense to develop business solutions, so they are no boring or tedious at all.
The professors are another thing worth of a special mention, they are all high qualify and good persons, they have a lot of patience, specially with us the international students, take their time and are always ready to help us with anything, and they are very open, so any problem you have, you can feel the confidence to ask them for help.
I am planning to do my research Thesis project on the technology marketing area, and I am since now getting some feedback from my technology marketing professor, even that he is not my advisor, he has taken some time to give me some advice, and I also has get feedback from another students pursuing that area who have recommended me to combine my classes from here, with those in Chiao-Tung University, which is another university here in Hsinchu the same city where I live, and that seems to have very good classes options in that area.
It is very special to be in a classroom with a lot of international students, because is really important to come in contact with people with different opinions and ways of thinking, I have classmates from all Latin America, Sweden, Russia, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, etc... besides of local Taiwanese of course, here I really recommend you to try to interact and work with the local students, is a perfect opportunity to know more about them, make friends, and learn more about Chinese culture in general, they are very friendly and respectful people, so is very easy to work with them, I have International classmates in all my study and working groups, for all the classes.
