The Department of Electrical Engineering at National Sun Yat-Sen University has been established since 1980. Master and Ph. D. programs were then initiated in 1984 and 1987, respectively. Ever since 2009, Dept. of EE has constituted a multi-institute organization to strengthen the research of new technologies and the training of students. The EE-based multi-institute organization embraces Institute of Communications Engineering (ICE), International Masterˇ¦s Program in Electric Power Engineering (IMEPE), and all of the Dept. of EE post-graduate programs. In the coming years, Institute of Micro-electronics and Systems will be founded as well in this organization.

In undergraduate programs of Dept. of EE, we consistently emphasizes on balanced training of theoretical studies and field-application experiments, since we believe that we are on a mission to incubate our students to be competitive engineers and rigorous scientists. Therefore, the EE undergraduate curriculum covers seven engineering areas, which are semiconductor electronics, control systems, computer engineering, power engineering, EM waves, communication systems, and SoC (System-on-Chip). Besides regular laboratory courses, students are required to take a special research project during their senior year. In the Master and Ph. D. programs, through the relentless research and industrial projects led by Faculty members in the department, our graduate students are incubated as competent engineers in a broad range of research fields. We strongly believe that these students are the future driving force of our industry and business.
