¥ú¹q¨t_Subwavelength grating waveguide based cladding-modulated Bragg reflector in bulk CMOS: In this project, we successfully implemented photonic devices on the polysilicon gate of standard 90-nm bulk CMOS platform. We replaced silicon strip waveguide with subwavelength grating (SWG) waveguide to reduce the propagation loss dramatically from original 150 dB/cm down to only 30 dB/cm. This attributed to the low optical overlap with the polysilicon core in SWG waveguide. Such a SWG waveguide design also enables a lower temperature sensitivity of 29.4 pm/oC. As a result, as-realized SWG-based cladding-modulated waveguide filter allows a reflection bandwidth of 1.6 nm and an extinction ratio of 24.5 dB.
